Hi, I’m Sakura Motomura, I’m a contemporary artist. I work in mixed media, installation and performance to create exhibitions on location. This includes a long term practice in painting and 2D but also spatial 3D pieces and video.​

I was born in Perth, Western Australia and since I can remember, I’ve always had active and imaginative tendencies which have led me on a journey creating art. Besides my two main countries of residence – Japan and Australia, I have participated in exhibitions in the USA, Korea and Germany. I have assembled some recent as well as key artworks on this site.

Whilst difficult to summarize, I would say that a lot of my work has been influenced by the places I have lived and stayed, which have so far been mostly in Australia and Japan where I have cultural roots. This includes conceptual works created in relation to specific times and places as well as the design and aesthetic elements of the works. Through my exhibitions and artworks I try to invite contemplation, participation and connection with the world. 

 

I am currently based in Perth, Western Australia since returning in 2023.
