BETWEEN EYES
Linseed oil, pigment, canvas, silver leaf
162 x194cm
This particular painting started with the notion of two eyes looking at one another. We each have our own view point and the way that we see, our vision of the world and one another differs from person to person. Our eyes are also constantly moving and recalibrating, reflecting the light wavelengths that travel through space, bouncing and illuminating the world around us. Our eyes can also be thought of as kind of biological kaleidoscopes, forming a dichotomy between that which we see, and that which is reflected within the pool of our eyes mirror. Thinking about these macroscopic forces as well as the simple notion of two people looking at one another, I was inspired to create this painting. Perhaps you can make out two eye like shapes within the abstraction.
