EMERALD CITIES
Painting

Emerald Cities
The first large painting consists of three panels.
It was inspired by the Emerald City from the fantasy film “the Wizard of Oz“ which was one of my all time favourite films in childhood.
I tried to depict my interpretation of the illusive emerald city as if it were made of precious emeralds and glass. It could also be an abstraction of a futuristic environmental city.
The medium size painting "Emerald City Dream" was another variation on the theme of the “Emerald City.” The kaleidoscopic facade was inspired by the many reflective glass windows and surfaces in the big megalopolis of Tokyo.
It also takes inspiration from the natural world, and perhaps the other "Oz" Australia or some other mythical land.
The last five small paintings are a part of a series of works. Whilst small in size, they appear as if they could be fragments of a larger form.
