KALEIDOSCOPIC PAINTING INSTALLATION ⟫

Kaleidoscopic Painting Installation
Linseed oil, pigment, acrylic, on canvas
Size variable. Square units 30 x 30cm
This painting installation was inspired by the idea of a kaleidoscope that brings symmetry and unity to all manner of chaotic inner imagery and content.
After having a painting exhibition in a kaleidoscope museum gallery annex in Kyoto Japan, I became further interested in combining painting with a kaleidoscopic motif to express the multifarious and multitudinous nature of my experience between returning to Australia after having lived abroad in Japan for a year.
The combined imagery is created through juxtaposition of various elements and motifs encountered randomly from everyday life.
The fluorescent background paint at once commands an emergency kind of attention whilst at the same time glows with an ethereal aura. People could enter the installation and feel as if they had been enveloped in a luminous mandala-esque space.
