Koganecho Red Carpet

Participatory event/happening 

I lived on this street in Koganecho for several years. Due to the road closure on weekends I decided to instigate some red-carpet events. The simple act of laying an extensive amount of carpet on an ordinary downtown street, created a surreal and performative space. People could also move freely in what once was a restricted area. The spectacle was also in remembrance and acknowledgement of the areas past, and the many women who once frequented the narrow spaces of the rickety building complex.
