STROMATOLITE DREAM ⟫
Painting

Stromatolite Dream
seed oil, pigment, canvas
Approx. 90 x 120cm
This painting was inspired after encountering the stromatolite tidal pools in the Shark Bay region of Northern West Australia. The breathing, fossil-like stone formations are one of the oldest life forms on the planet and possible precursor to life in the biosphere as we know it.
Their unfathomable existence in the ocean over billions of years was the inspiration behind this work.
The painting was included in the 2003 Waterhouse Natural History Art Prize Exhibition at the Museum of South Australia in Adelaide.
